Message
from Irene Vázquez
(Mrs.
Don Jíbaro)
Late last month, Don Jibaro (Orlando) had an accident. The van
accidently ran over his left foot causing a four inch open gash that
required thirty stitches. He was getting out of the van while it was
still moving and the door knocked him down and dragged him. His body
is suffering from post trauma and chest contusions /a sore rib cage
when he breathes.
A month ago he fell on the other leg and tore a ligament.
Two weeks ago, I took him to the doctor for the follow up check up
and he was having chest pains and
shortness of breath plus his blood pressure wasn't high
enough so the doctor sent him to emergency to the nearest hospital
suspecting a blood clot caused by the swollen foot with the gash.
He is being kept a couple of days in the hospital for further
evaluation: Catscan, a visit with the cardiologist etc Please keep
him in your prayers/light a candle etc
At home, the pain medication keeps him drugged up so he sleeps alot,
but he is moving around better. His worst complaint is about his
bruised ribs. When he fell on the ground, the car door dragged him
some and that trauma on the body was great. It hurts to breathe and
to move around on the bed to make himself comfortable. It is a very
painful experience each time, because he doesn't have the use of
his legs/one has a torn tendon and the other has lots of stitches.
I am home due to paid adminsitrative leave from work/which is
another story but I praise the Lord that I'm here so that I can care
for him. He wouldn't have been able to care for himself .Since the
accident , the paramedics have taken him to ER three times/usually
for being short of breath./not getting enough oxygen in the heart...
Orlando's stitches were removed last Wednesday. A
couple of butterfly stitches were placed in a section where the skin
still hadn't quite fused. It looks like a little ditch/crevice.
Anyway , today in the morning it was bleeding some. The nurse says
it will have to heal from the inside out so he has to keep it up. I
need to check for possible infection. So, please keep praying a
little while longer.
Orlando is feeling better but he still needs to
rely on the walker and be very careful not to put his weight on the
foot when he walks. Appreciatively for all of your kind words of
support and demonstrations of love to me, and for Orlando/Don
jibaro!
Sincerely,
Irene Vázquez, the wife

Update on Don Jíbaro's Health
by Irene (Mrs. Don Jibaro)
Orlando visited with the cardiologist today. She says that
he can live with an "arrythmia" in the heart. that is, the
atrial fibrillation is when the heart speeds up instead of
pumping at a normal speed. rlando (DJ) visited with the
cardiologist. She says that he can live with an "arrythmia"
in the heart. Atrial fibrillation is a cardiac arrhythmia
(abnormal heart rhythm) that involves the two upper chambers
(atria) of the heart. It can often be identified by taking a
pulse and observing that the heartbeats don't occur at
regular intervals He's taking medications that control
this and he was taken off of the aspirin and the water pill.
(His blood pressure was dropping too low with them).
Thanks so much,
Irene for the Vázquez familia;
Orlando, Raquel, Panchis, Sammy and Sparky the Beagle
